David Long, aka Dave Odyssey, started in music from a young age. When he was 15 he received his first guitar. He had 3 guitars and a huge rack of effects by 18. David learned the blues early on from his early teacher Phil Coulton, as well as picking up some heavy metal styles along the way. His guitar work was strongly influenced by Led Zeppelin, U2, Jimi Hendrix and later on by his jazz style teacher Wayne Eagles. David was a founding member of Mourning Glory, an Ottawa-based rock band which played in local clubs from 1991 to around 1994. David later moved into the business side of music around 1998. He developed several successful weekly club events including pioneering the all female DJ's night known as Chicks With Decks at the Amsterdam nightclub in Ottawa. He later founded Circle of Steps, a music and artist collective which ran a popular weekly club event for over a year. Through it all, David has stuck with his rock and roll roots, and now brings a unique blend of electronic and natural playing styles to his guitar work. |
